Cell Phone Number Search - How to Reverse Lookup a Cell Phone Number

When do you need a reverse phone service?

If you want to find the name and location of the owner of a specific phone number (cellular or landline) and this number is not listed in whitepages or phone books, you will need a specialized reverse phone lookup service. These services operate by purchasing access to subscriber databases of various mobile operators and phone companies. By combining multiple sources of information, they provide users with a capability to search through a huge database containing almost all phone numbers in the USA. This database includes land line numbers, unlisted numbers and cell phone numbers.

Sprint Phones

Reverse phone lookup services are bound by agreements with phone companies, which prohibit them from providing this information for free (primarily for the reasons of privacy). This is the reason why you need a valid credit card or paypal account to register and use these services. This ensures that they cannot be utilized for illegal purposes (e.g. stalking.) Besides, phone companies charge for access to their databases in the first place, so reverse lookup services try to recoup some of their costs by requiring a subscription fee.

Are there any free alternatives to paid reverse phone lookup services?

If you don't feel like using paid services, there are a few alternatives that may help. You may look up the number in publicly available whitepages or phone books, or use an internet search engine, such as Google or Yahoo. However, if the number in question is cell phone or unlisted, you search will most likely provide no results, because such information is not publicly available. It won't hurt to try, though.

What kind of information you can expect to find using a cell phone lookup service?

You can expect to find the owner's name and address. Some services also provide additional information such as the list of household members.

How to use a reverse phone lookup service?

Simply enter the phone number which you are researching into the online form. Most services will immediately provide the following information for free:

Whether the phone number in question is cellular or land line. The precise location (city and state) where the number is registered. Whether any additional information about this number is available. To find the name of the phone's owner, you will need to purchase access to the service (a nominal yearly fee is usually required). As mentioned above, the registration requirement is a way of ensuring the service will not be used illegally.

Are reverse phone lookup services legal?

Yes, cell phone lookup services are completely legal, provided you use the obtained information for lawful purposes. In particular, you are not allowed to take advantage of this information for making telemarketing calls.

Cell Phone Number Trace - Find Out Who's Calling

Doing a cell phone number trace is not always so easy today. While land line numbers are in phone books and can be easily found if you dial information, cell phones are quite a bit different. It used to be extremely difficult to trace these cell numbers, but today it is easier than ever before, and while there are many paid ways to do it, today there are actually a few ways that you can trace these numbers without having to only rely on a paid service. However, if you try the free ways and don't succeed, a paid directory may be a great choice for you.

Tip #1 - Try a Search Online - One free way that you can do a free cell phone number trace is to try doing a search online. The internet and search engines are powerful tools and you can use them to your benefit if you're trying to trace a cell phone number. This is an easy and inexpensive way for you to look for the number you want. Many people actually list their phone numbers online at various websites, making it searchable to you. This means you often can just Google a cell phone number and find out who really does own it. It's so simple and fast, and best of all, it's free.

Sprint Phones

Tip #2 - Look at Online Directories - Another free way that you may be able to trace the number you have is to take a look at the online directories that are out there today. You'll find that there are a variety of free directories that are now available. While there are some free directories, it is important to realize that they are often quite limited in the numbers that they carry and you may not find all the information that you need.

Tip #3 - Search Through Reverse Lookup Websites - Today there are a few free reverse lookup sites, although some of the best ones are going to charge you a small free. If you're trying to do a cell phone number trace, using one of these sites is a great idea. Some will let you do a limited amount of searches for free, while others may make you pay for all of them, it just depends on the site you try to use.

Tip #4 - Try Volunteer Phone Directories - Another option that you have is a volunteer directory. This is a place where people actually voluntarily provide their contact information, such as a cell number. In some cases you may be able to find information you're looking for on a site like this.

These are a few ways that you can trace a cell number; however, if they are not successful for you, then try using a paid directory. Sure, it's not always easy to do a trace, but with modern technology and paid directories, today you can do a cell phone number trace fairly easily.

How To Trace A Cell Phone Location - Without Them Knowing

Have you ever wanted to trace a cell phone and find out the location of the caller. There are services available that will let you preform discreet searches. The cell phone owner will never know they have been tracked down.

A decent reverse cell phone trace will reveal the callers full name and address, date of birth, address history, and some services will provide any criminal or other very personal records on that person. The first time I used a reverse call search I was pretty shocked at what info was available on me.

Sprint Phones

One of the benefits of becoming a member of a paid service is that you can request your info to be removed from their system! There are free services but I found them a complete waste of time. Almost all of them share a public info data base that is worthless. You might get back the state or city the call is from.

Joining a paid service is worth the one time fee but I found the best option is to go for the yearly membership. I learned this the hard way by paying a one time search fee thinking I would never need the service again and then having to pay again a month later when I needed to trace down a prank cell phone caller.

Cell phones are a little harder to trace then regular land line phones. The over the counter cell phones that you pre pay and do not have to give out any info on are almost impossible to trace. You can do a preliminary search for free to see if anything is returned. If you get back the city and state you can be sure there is a lot more info available once you join. I even found out my prank callers neighbors.

The information you can now get was once only available to private investigators and law enforcement. But now with a click of your mouse you can have the same access to private information that they do ready to print out for your viewing pleasure.

With more cell phones using a tracking GPS chip you can now almost pinpoint a cell phone location. This is a great service if you want to track your kids, husband or employees. Want to find out where that bimbo your husband has been seeing behind your back? Get her phone number off of his cell phone and do a reverse call search on it. You will know more about her that he does. This could make some really interesting conversation or aid in your divorce.

The service also comes in handy for those pesky telemarketers that think they are untraceable. These days unlisted will not mean untraceable. An unlisted number might not be available to the public but that does not mean you can not trace it with a reverse call look up service. I discover that prank callers think because they are on a cell phone they are safe are pretty shocked when you call them back and rattle off their home and work address along with some other juicy info about them. The prank or unknown calls almost always stop immediately after that.

Free Arabic Ringtones

The ringtone has become a remarkable cultural tool that is enjoying a great deal of popularity worldwide. Users in different parts of the world like to use their specific languages and music to personalize their mobile content. Today, Arabic ringtones have become a form of great entertainment and a way to show you ethnicity.

Normally, Arabic music that is popular all over the world is the favorite choice of many Arabic speaking mobile users. The favorite artists being Ya Tabtab by Nancy Airam, Dana, Amr Diab, Samira Saeed, Ihab Tawfic, Arwa, Elissa, Assi Al Hellani, Grace Deeb, Ilham Al Madfai, Umkulthoum, Majed Al Mohandis, and many more. But the Arabic language is not just confined to Saudi Arabia and the surrounding areas. In fact, the northern Africa has a large Arabic speaking population, which further mixes with the local ethnic culture resulting in cross cultural language usage. This is also evident in the types of ringtones available. For example, ring-back tone services are so popular in Egypt that operators are having difficulty meeting the demand for them.

Sprint Phones

In Egypt, Arabic is the official language and also the most commonly used language. In business, English and Arabic are widely used. In Morocco and Tunisia, however, the most common language for business is French, while the official language is Arabic. Nonetheless, most of the Arabic ringtones are based on songs sung by popular artists. Also, many freelance composers have come on to the scene, and they use traditional songs and Arabic folk music to create new tunes. Arabic ringtones always have a very traditional touch to them. With the rise in cross-cultural relations with the outside world, Arabic ringtones also now have a touch of Western music to them, as well.

Are Celebrity Cell Phone Numbers Available Online?

With many celebrities having their own private cell phone numbers, you cannot help but wonder if your favorite celebrity's cell phone number is listed on online databases.

Basically, most prominent personalities, such as celebrities, politicians, etc. will have their own cell phone numbers. This will mean that they will also subscribe with cell phone service providers, such as Sprint Mobile, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and other service providers.

Sprint Phones

What this means is that they will likely be listed online. With the numerous databases available, you will be able to find thousands or even millions of people who owns a cell phone.

However, when it comes to prominent figures in society, you have to consider the fact that they will have critics, fans and other people who want to get in contact with them. Celebrities are one of those prominent figures in society and although their cell phone numbers may be listed in online databases, it will be listed under a false or assumed identity. This will protect them from stalkers, crazed fans and harassment.

So, if you are ever wondering if celebrity cell phone numbers are listed online, the answer is yes it is. However, the name registered under that number will be different.

If people do get their hands on the cell phone number of a celebrity and tries to contact them, it will usually result in the celebrity changing their cell phone number and changing their registration name.

These are the things that you need to remember about celebrities and cell phones. Even if their numbers are listed online, it will still be hard to find.

How to Flash Your Cell Phone

If you are like most people today you have a cell phone and like most of us you don't stick with the same carrier forever. When you change carriers you need a phone that will work on their network so you have two choices, buy a phone through your new carrier and get locked into a one or two year contract or use your current phone on their network. For most people the cheapest and best solution is to use your current phone. Thus phone Flashing. Flashing is the process of loading Carrier specific files to handsets from other carriers in order to connect the phone to the new carrier.

What do I Need to Flash My Phone?

Sprint Phones

1.) Flashing software (which you can download)
2.) A USB cable for the phone you're flashing
3.) A computer with Windows 2000 or Newer, a USB Port, 800Mhz+, 256MB RAM
4.) A CDMA cell phone (see below)

How Difficult is it ?

There are a number of good downloadable cell phone flashing programs out there that will guide you through reprogramming your cell phone to use on many other carriers. If you have basic computer knowledge and a few simple cables almost anyone can Flash or reprogram a cell phone. To begin you will need a Flashing program. Onceyou have the flashing software. Search for the instructions or read me docs with your program and follow them carefully. Look for instruction on your specific phone. This will give you a good overview of what you will be doing. You should be able to complete the process in about ten to fifteen minutes once setup. You will be Flashing a CDMA phone to a CDMA carrier. See a description of the two major networks below.

The Networks

In addition to the list above you will need an account with the CDMA carrier you wish to sign up with. There are two major networks for cell phone carriers. They are GSM or Global System for Mobile Communications. Examples are AT&T, T-Mobile The second CDMA or Code Division Multiple Access.Examples are Qwest, Metro, Sprint and Verizon. These are technologies which essentially allow a mobile device to communicate with a mobile communications network.

How Good Is The Carrier I am Flashing To?

As with most great deals you probable heard about a better carrier through a friend or co-worker. But before you change carriers you should make sure the coverage you are going to is at least as good as your current provider. One way of doing that is compare your current coverage with your new carrier at cellreception.com. Here you can enter in your zip code and get ratings for all carriers in your area along with comments from others using the different cellular services.

Locating the Best Cell Phone Plans

The holiday season is one of the best times to shop for the best cell phone plans. This is because that the specials are wonderful during this time of year. You can surely find a great deal that will save you money for many years to come if you purchase a plan during the Christmas season. The upgrades are also amazing during the holiday season. I recommend that you try shopping around the holidays if you are planning to search for the best cell phone plans in your area.

To tell you the truth, it was by accident that I discovered the benefits of adopting a cell phone plan during the holiday season. About five years ago, I received a cell phone from my husband as a Christmas present. He managed to nab one of the best cell phone plans I have ever encountered during that time. I have to say that there is no way that we are changing one thing.

Sprint Phones

I like the fact that our monthly payment never changes. The standard rate covers everything including out-of-state calls. I still have to pay for coast to coast calls but I really have more than what I need because my calling area covers several states in the northeastern part of the United States.

A standard monthly rate for services will always be included in the offers of the best cell phone plans. This monthly rate should cover all minutes. I do not need to worry about the number of minutes I use each month with my cell phone plan. I also do not need to consider the best times to place phone calls.

A lot of offers have peak hours that really rack up the cost of your phone service. This is because cell phone companies are trying to balance the high costs with special rates during certain times of the day. I don't like these kinds of plans because I have enough trouble with scheduling my time and organizing my day.

In my opinion, the best cell phone plans don't make customers schedule their calls or wait for the most opportune time to contact their friends and family. I think that a costumer should be able to make calls around the clock without worrying about the rates.

Remember to shop for a new offer from your phone company during the next holiday season. This way you will be able to find the best cell phone plans that make the best presents as well.

Best Upcoming Smartphones 2011

For the past two years, clearly the best-selling tech item around the world became the smartphone, the device that conveniently places the Internet in your pocket. This week, it has been announced that Research In Motion shipped 14.2 million BlackBerry in the quarter ending in September 2010, narrowly beating Apple's iPhone sales. These are huge numbers for smartphones sales.

The best way to shop around for a smartphone is firstly, to select a carrier with adequate coverage and a price plan that fits your needs. However, if you're going firstly to select the best smartphone, you should start by selecting its operating system (OS).

Sprint Phones

Right now, you have five Operating Systems (in the United States):

BlackBerry's OS by Research in Motion (RIM); HP's web OS; Apple's IOS, the software for the iPhone; Google's Android; and Microsoft's Windows Phone 7;1) Concerning BlackBerries, while carriers such as Sprint and AT&T already sell smartphones running RIM's upgraded BlackBerry 6 software, others (e.g. T-Mobile and Verizon) still have to make such adjustment. Anyway, BlackBerry 6 won't probably be around for long, as RIM will be using a newer operating system on its coming tablet computer, in early 2011.

2) HP's web-OS just got a major update, however the current lineup is badly due for a replacement, and apparently HP's upcoming smartphone (i.e. Verizon-first Pre 2) doesn't look like it will count as such. Web-OS also badly trails other operating systems in its selection of apps, though it remains better off than Windows Phone 7.

3) Apple's i-OS does multimedia, calendar and contacts organization and Web browsing better than all the others smartphones. It also has the widest selection of add-on apps. Its FaceTime video-calling software is excellent in terms of ease of use and reach on other smartphones. But the iPhone runs only on AT&T, right now. That carrier also locks every iPhone sold in the US against transfer to other services, limiting you to expensive roaming plans while you travel abroad. And the major drawback with the iPhone is its phone service, particularly the issue of dropped calls.

4) Android OS's major strength is its diversity, because every major US carrier offers an Android smartphone which has led to a good selection of hardware designs and prices as low as .01. And the choice of Android apps might be limited, but fortunately it is not subject to the sort of freaky control Apple exercises over its App Store.

5) Windows Phone 7 to some extent is an unfinished product: it is a decent Web smartphone with weak apps. And Windows Phone 7 smartphones are overpriced for what they do. And their current limited availability is a serious drawback: only T-Mobile and AT&T sell Windows Phone 7 smartphones, but other carriers should join them by mid-2011.

Obviously, smartphones running Microsoft's older Windows Mobile software should not even be considered in your shopping requirements, in 2011.

After you select the operating system, then you should choose a carrier that will offer you coverage and a flexible price plan. Right now, your best choice for mobile-broadband coverage are with Verizon and Sprint (2nd choice). AT&T and T-Mobile are distant competitors. Why? Let me give you an example: in 2009, AT&T refused to allow iPhone users to make Skype calls over AT&T's 3G wireless network. In 2010, AT&T eventually relented. However, Verizon Wireless offers more than twenty smartphones that are compatible with Skype, and about half of them sold with Skype's mobile app already on the smartphone.

Sprint's 3g Network Vs AT&T's 3g Network

Sprint and AT&T both have 3G networks to offer customers nationwide for cellular service. It has been rumored that Sprint and Verizon both shared towers and the same kind of technology for their cell phones. I have looked at many Sprint and Verizon phones side by side, only for both of them to have the same bars of service. They are all three of the biggest cellular networks around.

Sprint's 3G service is the same as Verizon in my opinion. I have used the HTC Evo phone on Sprint's network quite a few times. Everywhere that you go to service is available, You have 3G service. Even when I only have zero or one bar of service, I can still access the Internet. It is a bit slow, but it still works when you need it. I have never seen a dead spot with Sprint since I have explored their network. Sometimes depending on where I am, the phone goes into Romeing, but it is still 3G service. The Internet speed is fairly fast and is very reliable. Talking on Sprint's network is also very reliable and hardly ever drops a call.

Sprint Phones

I have had quite a few I phones on the AT&T network. No matter which generation of iPhone, I have always had issues with the AT&T service. I will usually have service on the phone, but I almost always end up dropping calls for no reason. I have had to use other people's phones that have Sprint or Verizon when I did not have service with AT&T. The one good thing about AT&T's 3G service, is that you can talk on the phone while browsing the Internet at the same time. This is a great feature to have, if the service was only reliable. I have tested quite a few phones on the AT&T network and the results all come back the same. The network is just not that great. Ever since the iPhone 4 came out, the combination of Apple's antenna problem and AT&T's mediocre service, have resulted in a lot of unhappy customers. Apple has tried to fix the problem by giving out cases to their customers, but most people are not happy with that solution. I think in the near future AT&T and Apple will both lose lots of customers due to what has happened recently.

Using Sprint's 3G service is a bit different than AT&T. AT&T 3G service, when it works, is much faster most of the time than Sprint's network. I have tried doing bandwidth speed tests on the Internet with both Sprint and AT&T, with AT&T almost always being the winner. Sprint however wins the contest in my opinion because of having service almost everywhere and anytime you need it. Having a great smart phone is nice, but if you cannot use it due to the kind of service you receive, there is no point in having it.

Sprint also now has a 4G network, which is the first of its kind. I have not tested this out myself, but I have read reviews online for people that have. If you go online and Google reviews on the HTC Evo 4G phone, you will find nothing but positive reviews. In the very near future, Sprint will end up getting a much larger customer base due to their great service and innovation with the 4G network they have made available. AT&T will have to do some serious catching up to keep their current customers happy and satisfied.

It's not uncommon for people to include their phone number on resumes and classified as. However it's not common for everyone to have posted such information online. This technique works best with professionals and business owners. Facebook - Sometimes people post their phone numbers on profiles or include it when commenting on a friends profile. This can be time consuming but does not hurt to try if you know the person is already on Facebook or Myspace. Free Cell Phone Directory - I have run across one of two sites like this but the problem is the directory relies on the users to submit their own cell phone number. Not many people even know this exists and the people who do are not likely to add their number. I sure didn't Private Cell Phone Directory - Did you know that you can access the same resources that are used by private detectives and even law enforcement to find information about people? It's true but not many people are aware of the National Registry of Cellular Numbers. This is the most reliable way to lookup someone's cell phone number online.

Cell Phones From Inception - A History of Cell Phones

It started when Alexander Graham Bell accidentally spilled battery acid on his lap and unintentionally utilized the first telephone system when calling for help of his assistant. Since then, telecommunications have come a long, long way.

The first wireless radio phone was patented by Nathan Stubblefield in 1908, and in 1945, mobile phones as we know them and their corresponding base stations were born. Initially, single phones would completely occupy a base station during communications. Cell phone technology has steadily advanced since then, and the first improvement to be made was "handoff", wherein a cell phone switches from one base station to another within a network while traveling. Now, after almost thirty years of development, cell phones feature amazing viewing quality, slick and intuitive interfaces, texting, email, web browsing, viewing of various media including music, video, and pictures, complete media transfer, GPS, gaming, bluetooth capabilities, and even the ability to take pictures, capture video, and record sound. Texting, in particular, has become a large-scale cultural phenomenon, as evidenced by "cell phone novels" originated in Japan. A reader can read installments (anywhere from 70 to 2,000 words) periodically. Modern cell phones are more of a personal computer that just happens to be able to place calls.

Sprint Phones

Vital information such as the phone number and which network the cell phone is linked to is kept on a very small chip called a subscriber identity module, or a SIM card. Using a code, information on the sim card (such as the phone number) can be changed; cell phones can be unlocked for a fee, after which they can access a variety of networks. This is useful for long-distance traveling or for use in remote areas.

By law, people are now required to use a hands-free earpiece while driving a car, which utilizes the bluetooth abilities of cell phones. Current models are universally wireless, and naturally the business of making these earpieces has boomed since the law was passed.

Cell phones have been a wonderful business opportunity for numerous companies. For instance, cell phone ringtones are for sale by the millions online, and many websites also offer versions of their services designed specifically for cell phone web browsers. Good examples of this are websites that offer email services, news, weather, and even daily horoscopes and jokes. As they normally do, companies have taken this opportunity to advertise through the websites viewed on the phones, text message advertisements, and telemarketing.

Cell phone design has evolved just as much as the technology. Older phones were, of course, larger (the very first was all of ten inches tall) and were similar to home telephones that we still see today. Modern cell phones are three or four inches tall, and are as thin as a quarter of an inch or thinner. The flip phone has been around since rather early in cell phone history, and remains a popular design. Another popular design features a touch screen that takes the place of the buttons normally found on a phone, and some have two pieces that slide laterally, exposing more buttons. Or, in the case of some phones, the two pieces slide one direction to expose a numeric keypad and also slide in a perpendicular direction to expose a full alphabetical keyboard. Most modern cell phones do not have a visible antenna.

Cell phones have come to be, first, a convenience, and second, a very versatile and popular mode of entertainment.

Cell Phone Signal Boosters Vs Femtocells - Which One Is Right For You?

Ever missed a call because your phone was in and out of service and it only rang once before going to voicemail?  Constantly having to go to windows or outside to make a call? Tired of playing the "Can you hear me now?" game?  With more and more people opting to do away with their landline, reliable call quality and carrier service has never been more important.  So what can you do to improve your reception and stop dropping calls?

The most popular options are cell phone signal boosters and Femtocells.  Without going into too much detail, by the end of this article you should have enough information to decide which one is right for you.

Sprint Phones

Let us start by defining the two technologies.  Most wireless cell phone signal boosters (also called amplifiers and repeaters) work by capturing the signal outside, amplifying it, and then redistributing it inside.  This is done through 3 major pieces: an outside antenna (either directional or omni-directional), the amplifier, and the inside antenna (either directional or omni-directional).  The outside signal can be weak or strong, but must be present in order for the booster to operate properly.  In general, the weaker the signal outside, the more gain the amplifier needs to provide in order to offer adequate coverage inside.  Femtocells are basically miniature cell phone towers, about the size of a wireless router, that are provided by your wireless carrier and are installed in your home to provide coverage of up to a 40' radius.  They are essentially a Wi-Fi router for cellular and PCS frequencies.  Information is transmitted wirelessly from your phone to the femtocell, then from the femtocell to the carrier via your broadband internet connection.

Now let's get down to the purpose of this article.  The easiest way to decide which product is right for you is to take a look at the comparisons below.

Connectivity

Booster:  Dual Band models work with virtually all carriers except Nextel and other iDEN push-to-talk networks, although there are boosters made specifically for Nextel. Femtocell:  Only works with one specific service provider.  Ex. You are a Verizon Wireless subscriber. Provided there is little coverage by all carriers in your current location, installing a Verizon Network Extender will help you out but don't plan on your AT&T friends raving about excellent coverage when they stop over to watch the game.

Data

Booster: Dual Band models work with data plans for all carriers using 850/1900 MHz for their data.  This is most carriers, but does not include T-Mobile 3G Femtocell:  Supported data rates vary by carrier. Some femtocells do not support data at all.  Ex.  Verizon's Network Extender currently only supports 1X CDMA, not EVDO or 3G.  Generation 1 of Sprint's Airwave only supports 1X CDMA, not EVDO or 3G.  AT&T's microcell supports 3G data, but only works with 3G phones.

Multiple Users

Booster:  Most dual band wireless models support more than a handful of users so everyone can be talking or surfing at the same time. Femtocell:  Depends on the carrier.  Sprint's AIRWAVE allows up to 3 simultaneous users. Verizon's Network Extender supports up to 3 simultaneous users. AT&T's Microcell supports up to 4 simultaneous users.

Bandwidth

Booster:  N/A Femtocell:  Prepare to allot anywhere from 40Kbps to 300kbps of your upload and download bandwidth depending  on the number of active calls / data sessions.

Cost

Booster:  Basic Dual Band home coverage kits  can start as low as 5    Femtocell:  Anywhere ranging from free  (with a subscription to unlimited calling), to with a /mo fee, to a 0 one time fee.

Installation

Booster:  Installation of most cell phone signal boosters can be completed in anywhere from 1  to 4 hrs..  Mounting the outside antenna, mounting the inside antenna and running the cabling between everything is the most time consuming.  Amplifier and internal antenna placement are completely flexible. Femtocell:  Physically easier to install - requiring just a simple Ethernet connection to your existing router. However, most require a GPS lock in order to activate and confirm location, so it is advised to install next to a window.  However, it is also advised that they be placed in a central location for best coverage.  Raise your hand if you have windows located in the center of your home?

Boot Up Time

Booster:     N/A - once the amplifier is powered on you can make and receive calls. Femtocell:  Some femtocells require up to 60 minutes to set up and stabilize for the first time.  Subsequent power cycles take 10-15 minutes to stabilize.

Call Hand-Off

Booster:  N/A - a cell phone signal booster is an extension of the outside tower so you are essentially already connected to it when making and receiving calls.  There is no hand-off to take place.  If you are connected to a tower as you're driving up your street, you'll be connected to the same tower once in your home (just with a stronger signal) Femtocell:  Seamless call transfer to the tower as you leave the femtocell coverage area, but you're going to have to hang up and re-dial if you're entering the coverage area.

In summary, if you live in an area with absolutely no cell coverage, only affiliate with people who are using the same carrier as you, don't mind giving up some of your already-paid-for broadband bandwidth, will never have a need for 3 or more people to be on the phone at the same time and don't mind saying "I'll have to call you back, I'm at home now" then a femtocell might just be the solution for you.  However, if you want to provide great cell and data coverage to just about anyone who enters your home (regardless of carrier), value your already precious bandwidth, and don't mind rolling up your sleeves for a few hours to do the installation, then an installed Cell Phone Signal Booster may be the right solution for you.

Backwards Lookup a Phone Number, Including Unlisted and Cell Phones

When you've just received a call from someone you don't know and that number is either unlisted or a cell phone number, you'll probably want to do a backwards phone lookup. While listed landlines numbers certainly aren't a problem should you have call display, all other numbers will give you some difficulty, and it could very well be that the caller is counting on this.

Be it pranksters, bill collectors, a spouse's secret lover or other, hiding behind the veil of secrecy afforded them by having an unlisted or blocked number is their forte. Little do they realize that shredding that veil up and tossing it aside is now an easy task with a backwards phone search company.

Sprint Phones

For whatever you may need it for, a backwards phone records company can provide you full details on the owner of any phone number, be it a regular landline, unlisted landline, or even cell phone numbers.

First you'll need to ensure that you've found the right site. There are many different sites that offer backwards phone searches, but these may be restricted to listed landline numbers which won't do you much good in most instances. These numbers are available in many free directories and don't need to be paid for to access.

What you need is a site dedicated to cell phone numbers and unlisted numbers. These numbers are gathered through a much more strenuous process than the one that faces free directories. The numbers must be personally gathered by the individual company, as no databases of these records are kept. This requires manpower and money, which is why all legitimate sites dealing in these numbers will charge a fee. This is not to say that all sites charging a fee are legitimate, which certainly isn't the case, but rather that you simply won't find one of these directories for free.

Your fee will entitle you to a lifetime of unlimited searches, which is really a bargain, as this service can come in handy numerous times even in a short period of time. To get started on your own backwards phone lookup head to http://www.backwardphonebook.com

At with service, the Droid Eris is the cheapest Android cell phones at the time of this writing.

It's lacking a lot of the features found on higher end Android devices like noise cancellation, HD video recording, and HDMI out, but if you want those features and are willing to sacrifice the keyboard, check out the Droid X or the Droid Incredible.

GOOGLE NEXUS ONE The Google Nexus One impresses with a stunning AMOLED display, speedy performance, and cool tweaks to the Android OS; but some network issues prevent it from being rated between good cell phones. if Google's goal is to spread Android more wide than deep, maybe this is precisely the right phone at the right time: class-leading processor, vibrant display, sexy shell, and just a sprinkling of geekiness that only Google could pull off this effortlessly.

HTC EVO 4G

The speedy HTC EVO 4G packs in some powerful specs and a variety of multimedia features into a stylish, minimalist design. The HTC Evo 4G is easily Sprint's best smartphone and one of today's best value Android cell phones. It also shows the promise of 4G, which will grow as Sprint's WiMax network expands, but until there's broader 4G coverage, it's hard to agree with the mandatory premium data add-on fee.

Find Out Someone's Cell Phone Number - How to Trace Mobile Phone Calls With a Free Background Report

Before I tell you how to find out someone's cell phone number, let me start off by saying telecommunications technology is amazing. Well actually I take it back. It has both good and bad. I can remember the days when I spent /minute to call my aunt in Britain. Now I call her for free on Skype. I won't even talk about the features of iPhones etc, they are simply amazing.  However, it has gotten 'bad' in certain ways. An example is 'unlisted telephone numbers'. This simply means that somebody can request your cellular phone carrier (as well as land phone carriers) to not list your number in their telephone directory.

Actually all cellular telephone numbers are automatically unlisted. This is why you don't see a Verizon or Sprint telephone directory! It has both good and bad.

Sprint Phones

The good

Your cellular number is safe from predators like identity thieves and telemarketers - your privacy is protected Only those people that you have willingly given your number will call you You don't have to spend your minutes or money on calls from various jokers
The bad
This is a weapon to some They (e.g. identity thieves, telemarketers etc.) will call you using an unlisted cell number (or a willingly unlisted land number). The caller ID goes "unknown caller " or "unlisted number" and you're stuck in two minds whether to answer the call or not
How to Find Out Someone's Cell Phone Number in cases like this?

Even though mobile numbers are unpublished and 'hidden' from public access (for your own protection, as mentioned before ), the law enforcement authorities store them in electronic databases to be used in emergencies. There are many companies authorized to access the databases (for a fee) and you and I can do a reverse phone lookup to trace someone's cell phone number via these third party services.

Their charges and services vary - some even give you a free background check of the telephone owner

Their computers use a reverse engineering algorithm (I am no expert on this stuff, I only know it works like a charm!) to find the phone owners name and address when you give them the telephone number. Some of these so called "services" exaggerate the complexity of the computations involved and make you pay up to to find out someone's cell phone number. However, some of the big players in the industry offer the best rates which are extremely reasonable and even gives you a free background check that let's you decide the kind of person that may be harassing you with annoying telephone calls.

US Cellular Plans to Add to the Samsung Galaxy Cell Phone Lineup

Many people have been raving about the Samsung Galaxy S, but what exactly is it? Most people think it's a single phone built by Samsung but actually it's an entire series of phones built individually for each cell phone carrier.

The Galaxy actually started off as the i9000 early in 2010, but they soon received requests to make proprietary models for the carriers. Soon they had 4 variations on the market. The Samsung Captivate went to AT&T, the Samsung Vibrant went to T-Mobile, the Samsung Epic went to Sprint, and the Samsung Fascinate went to Verizon.

Sprint Phones

These phones are all basically the same inside but each one has cosmetic differences and some have different apps. They all have the same processor, screen, operating system, and components. The carrier gets to choose what to preload on the phone as far as software so that's going to be the biggest difference.

U.S. Cellular also plans to add their own phone to this lineup this fall. US Cellular has long been considered lacking in smartphones but this pickup should prove that they are a serious contender in the future. The Galaxy phone should be their 3rd of 5 Android phones they plan to roll out in 2010. Not a bad year for customers looking for new technology.

If you are looking for a Galaxy phone, you probably can't go wrong with any of them. As I mentioned, they are all the same basically, and that's not a bad thing considering the reviews they've gotten so far. Good luck finding the perfect Samsung phone!

Sprint Cell Phone Carrier Review

I used to work for Sprint about 8 years ago. So they have changed a lot since then. Back then there customer service was dead last, but now I hear they are number 1 in customer service. I rarely call them for help. But the times I have they are helpful.

Coverage has been fine, there are some dead/weak areas. For example above the capitol area. Bountiful has some weak spots by the mountains as well. But other than those main areas it's been fine. I just use my phone for voice and some texts. So I can't comment on the data speed and availability.

Sprint Phones

Plans price wise, it's OK. I still think cell phone plans in general are over priced.

[Update]

I just got the Palm Pre and the internet is actually very quick. I've seen a side by side comparison with the iPhone and Android G1 and the Pre loaded first every time. Also a reviewer said it gets better reception than other Sprint phones he's reviewed too.

So far I've been loving my Palm Pre, have zero regrets whatsoever. Reception is better than my last phone. Apps are coming out on a consistent basis since launch. GPS works great on it. Keyboard is very easy to use too.

The plan I have with my Pre is great. It's 450 Minutes with unlimited to ANY mobile phone regardless of carrier. Much better than those calling circles the other carriers brag about. Also has unlimited data, gps, roaming, nights starting at 7pm. It's a amazing plan really.

Main Cell Phone Coverage Area is Salt Lake City, Utah.

How To Download Music From Computer To Cell Phone

Downloading music from your PC's music collection is pretty easy. All you have to do is drag and drop songs from your PC onto a memory card that's then installed in the phone. All the phones connect to PC USB cable. However only Sprint / Nextel and Amp'd phones appear as a lettered drive onto which you can drag and drop music files.

Not everything on your PC will necessarily play on the phones. Sprint phones will play MP3's and AAC's ( the default format for Apple's iTunes software and Music Store) but not music purchased form other music stores even PC downloads from the Sprint service, oddly enough. With Amp'd you can play MP3's and WMA's but not songs downloaded from online music stores. AMP'd Live does allow you to order songs, ringtones and other content from your PC and have them automatically pushed to you phone.

Sprint Phones

Verizon is the most "Apple unfriendly". It's phones don't play MP3's or AAC's the only formats used by iPod owners just WMA's. The only good news is that Verizon phones will play copy-protected WMA songs bought from other online stores (which of course rules out Apple iTunes content). I hope this helps you in terms of what cell phone you have now or are contemplating on purchasing. Below is a place that I found to be helpfull in this process. Check it out.

Cell Phone Advertisements, Cell Phone Plans, and Smart Phone Choices Considered

It is absolutely amazing and somewhat overwhelming all the cell phone plan choices. As I was watching the Olympic Curling Event, I noted an advertisement by Wal*Mart that was offering 1,000 minutes and 1,000 text messages for the low price of "X" amount of dollars per month - "Straight Talk" program.

Apparently, they've hooked up with a major carrier of cell phone technology such as AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon, and although I didn't get the sense of which carrier they are partnering with, I sure see the synergy. And that is a pretty good deal if you consider your current cell phone plan.

Sprint Phones

Indeed, I suppose there are several phones to choose from with rebates on each, or even a free-phone with a sign-up and activation fee if you do not need a tricky smart phone with maximum features.

Consider if you will that Wal-Mart has an unbelievable amount of customers coming in and out of their stores, the sheer number and volume of their present customer base is enough to make them the largest cell phone company with the most subscribers on the planet, it would only take them a few years to catch up to the leaders and then pass them. After all, they are already the largest corporation and they hire more people than any single company, or government in the world.

All too often we are so concerned with what is happening in Silicon Valley, and we watch the stock market in the personal tech sector for companies like Research in Motion, Apple, and Google. We watch companies like Nokia, Motorola, and others show off their latest devices. But consider if you will a large retailer with that type of power that Wal-Mart has, they will revolutionize the low cost end of the cell phone industry. This in turn will drive down prices, create a great amount of competition, and in the end it will be very good for consumers.

Companies like Apple, Google, and Research in Motion will have to offer their iPhones, Androids, Google Phones, and Blackberries must compete on price too or miss out on this large clientele. But you can hardly go anywhere, or pick up any newspaper including the Wall Street Journal without seeing lots of ads for new smart phones hooked to special promotional programs from various wireless companies.

In a recent ad in our newspaper locally, I noted that a small wireless reseller was offering the Blackberry Curve model 8530 smart phone for only , which included 0 rebate, if you sign up for a two-year service agreement, and the total price been only 9.99 total. I am sure you've seen similar offers in your local paper in your area too.

This same company offered an LG LX 370 smart phone for free with a two-year service agreement, and they also offered the new Sanyo Incognito for only .99 after the two-year service agreement and mail-in rebate. All these offers including the one at Wal-Mart have early termination fee fines, some of which are up to 0. Nevertheless, it is fairly obvious to see that there is competition in the marketplace and a lot more to follow.

If you've ever wanted to get a cell phone, or change your service plan, now would be the time to start shopping around.

Consumers and business owners alike are now taking advantage of these smart phones. In fact, in the Wall Street Journal there is a full page ad which seems to be running nearly every day that hooks up with Sprint. It is a full page ad and offers discounts on the Samsung Moment, Palm Pixi, or the Blackberry Curve model 8530 smart cell phone. It includes a testimonial from PC World, and explains that you can go into any Best Buy or RadioShack and get the same deal.

It appears that the industry plans to push forward this as Google and Apple advances with their own recent technology offers. Are we seeing a saturation in the marketplace, is everyone getting into the cell phone business, doesn't everyone already have a cell phone, isn't everyone already locked into a contract?

The answer is yes and no, it might even be worth paying the penalty fee and jumping out of your current contract to save money and get a new phone. If you are like me perhaps your one year, 18 month, or two year contract is now up, and you'd like to move up in the world with a new smart phone.

Most of these cell phones include navigational GPS software, digital camera with video capture, and data feed features, which allow you to surf the Internet. Some of them have keyboards and the technology today was unheard of just a few years ago. You see, it's not just Apple's new iPad, Barnes & Noble's new Nook, or Amazon.com's new Kindle that is changing the landscape of personal technology. In fact, these new smart cell phones are getting so robust in technology that even Palm is noting that its PDAs are not selling any more.

If you think that the earthquake in Chile, or the devastating earthquake and Haiti is significant, then I think you need to check out the rumblings in the personal technology in the marketplace. It appears that the CES show in Las Vegas, along with Comdex in 2010 were merely the tip of the iceberg, and the global demand is melting it faster than the producers can bring them to market. The US electronic consumers and first adopter technology lovers haven't seen anything yet.

Motorola's new projection cell phones technology will soon be hitting the scenes as well. Nokia promises to roll out some incredible new personal tech hardware and smart cell phone technology in the near future. The sky is the limit and it's hard to say what comes next. As we look back it's almost hard to say which came first the chicken or the egg - that is to say the 3G or 4G wireless technology schemes, or the new high-tech devices which will run on them.

The reality is that this technology is evolving at an incredible pace. And everyone is getting in on it including Intel with their new smart phone chips. Recently, I listen to the CEO of Intel on a conference call to investors and Wall Street explain how their new smart phone chip was going to be a huge moneymaker for the company, and how they were charging ahead. Perhaps, you will please consider all this, and e-mail me and tell me what you think.

Sprint Cell Phone Directory

Wireless is the most common service of telecommunications sector and the most profitable sector, if the company wants to reap profits in large volume by providing price friendly services (these days it's hard to tell!). Sprint is one of the giants leading in this sector.

Before linking the ties with Nextel, Sprint was just a new entrant. But following the mentioned development, it is now one of the most popular cellular service providers in the U.S.A. As huge sections of the population prefer Sprint, there are a number of cell phone numbers in their database and as a result--tracing missed calls becomes almost impossible since this information is guarded heavily.

Sprint Phones

Around 2005, Sprint was in hand to hand with Cingular, T-Mobile, AT&T, Nextel and other cellular service companies to create Mobile 411 phone directory for reaching all around U.S.A. However keeping in mind the privacy of the customers, this idea was resisted by a majority of them. Consequently, a law passed in December 2007 to create such directories. Due to these developments, there are no such directories available for public--yet.

However keeping in view of some organizations needing this service, there have come up a number of back door services to provide the information pertaining to the phone number. Thus Sprint Cell phone directory can be accessed through some reliable sites online. They charge a minimal fee but get you the name, address and location of the person who owns the number of the Sprint phone. Also there is a 100% money back guarantee if the customer is not satisfied. Thus, Sprint Cell phone directory has not taken shape, but if anybody wants, one can get the needed information using a similar online search service.

Verizon's Blackberry Curve vs Sprint's BB Curve

The battle of the smart data mobile phones has never been tougher, especially when two different phone companies share internet-ready mobile phones which are made by the same manufacturer but have different styles, this is the case of Verizon's Blackberry Curve vs the Sprint Blackberry Curve version.

If you have ever had the chance of comparing these two devices side by side you will notice that they are physically similar, however there are some key differences, Verizon's version sports a gray finish and Sprint's uses a sleek black finish which seems to appeal to most people. This type of phones attract customers who are used to checking their email messages, their stock quotes and favorite sites on a daily basis, users who do not access the web and email applications that much would be better off with another mobile phone model.

Sprint Phones

The first thing you notice about these devices is how different they look, with the Sprint version sporting a darker titanium finish and the Verizon version going with the more conservative liquid-silver aesthetic.

The Blackberry Curve sold by Sprint sports a darker titanium finish and Verizon's version uses a conservative liquid silver look, recent polls and blog feedback have shown that people seem to prefer the Sprint version when it comes to looks. The way the icons are arranged when a user turns on the device is also a difference between the two and again Sprint's version comes on top. Verizon's icon arrangement is more traditional, Sprint's icons seem to be more animated and placed vertically on the left hand side of the screen.

The backgrounds and images can be customized on both so if you decide to go with Verizon you won't be stuck with just one default background or animation type, however Sprint's version of the Blackberry Curve seem to aim a younger audience who are attracted to neat graphics and style.

A major improvement seen in the Blackberry Curve (for both carriers) is that there are two new applications installed which allow users to record video as well as audio notes to its memory or to the removable microSD card. Both models are GPS ready and have EV-DO connectivity along with a 3.5mm audio jack. The web browser font size has also been modified for easy to read messages.

As always the one with the last word is the consumer, who must decide between stylish looks and the benefits of the network they are signing up for, besides the service is all a matter of tastes and personal preferences.

Cell Phone Rates - Which Are the Best?

Cell phone rates are as varied as the companies that provide service. To compare rates, you first need to decide what features you want in your plan ranging from how many minutes you want per month to free text messaging. You should also take into consideration the area in which you live, as some service providers may not be able to connect with your region.

Alltel is one of the most popular service providers and is available in most areas. The company now offers the My Circle program which allows you free unlimited calls to any network anywhere. One rate for an individual plan was .99 which included 750 anytime minutes with a $.40 rate for additional minutes. There were unlimited night and weekend minutes and mobile-to-mobile minutes. My Circle with this plan included five people.

Sprint Phones

For a comparable plan from Sprint, this company offered 700 anytime minutes at a rate of .99 a month. This plan included unlimited nationwide direct connect and unlimited nighttime and weekend minutes as well as mobile-to-mobile. Additional minutes had a charge of $.45 per minute..

T-mobile, another popular wireless provider, had a rate of .99 for 600 minutes. They offered unlimited nighttime and weekend minutes as well as unlimited mobile-to- mobile. The company offered MyFaves unlimited minutes. Myfaves is similar to My Circle and includes unlimited calls to five people. Additional minutes were only charged $.20 per minute.

Verizon only offered 450 minutes in their individual plan at a rate of .99. This plan included free nighttime and weekend minutes but mobile-to-mobile calls were charged at a pay-as-you go rate. The company also charges you for text messaging. The rate for additional minutes was $.45.

For a 900 minute individual plan, Alltell charges .99 and increases MyCircle to include 10 people. All the rest of the anytime minutes and rates remain the same. Sprint offers 900 minutes at a rate of .99 while T-mobile offers 1000 minute plan at .99 while the rest of the both of their plans remains the same. Verizon offers a 900 minutes plan at .99 and their rate for additional minutes decreases to $.40 per minute.

The highest rated plan that Alltell offers is 6000 anytime minutes at a rate of 9.99 per month. The number of people in MyCircle increases to twenty and the rate for additional minutes drops to $.20 per minute.

Sprint offers a plan for 4000 anytime minutes at 9.99 per month. The only difference in the rest of this plan from the less expensive one is that the rate for additional minutes falls to $.40 per minute.

T-Mobile offers a 5000 anytime minute plan at a rate of 9.99 per month. The rest of the plan remained the same as the less expensive plans.

Verizon offers an Unlimited plan for 9.99 a month. This plan allows you unlimited calling anytime anywhere, which eliminates all charges for additional minutes. This plan also offers all other services such as text messaging for free.

By comparing the above rates, it seems that for regular individual service Alltell may be the wireless provider that you may want to choose, while for the maximum amount of minutes for a reasonable price, you may want to go with Verizon. In the long run, the choice is yours.

Phone Reverse Lookup

With the advent of caller I.D. our phone situation has changed greatly. We can see the phone number and many times the name of the person calling. So why would we need to do a phone reverse lookup?

Many times when about to answer our phone, we don't know who the phone number belongs to. Do we answer the phone? Do we let it ring? If you're like me, you don't pick it up. What if the person calls back several times? What if you start to get calls in the middle of the night?

Sprint Phones

You can't take it anymore. It's 3 AM. You pick up the phone and the person hangs up. Now you've really gotten upset. But more than upset, you're concerned about whom this person is and why they are calling you all day and night and when you finally pick up the phone; they slam it down in your ear. Now is the time to do a phone reverse lookup!

First things first when you do a search like this. Go to Google or Yahoo or one of the other major search engines and type the phone number in there. If you do not get any results, change the way you typed it in; try dashes between the numbers; try periods between the numbers. If that also delivers no results, then put the entire phone number in quotation marks ("555-555-5555"). That will alert the search engines to not change the numbers around during the search but to keep the digits in that exact order.

What if I still do not get any results?

You still want to do a phone reverse lookup but you don't know what to do.

There are companies that specialize in these searches. But even that is risky. One company is endorsed by Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and all the other major phone companies; InfoRegistry. They are accurate, fairly inexpensive and they work with phone registry records which are updated daily.

Don't wait any longer. Just do it! You'll sleep better at night.

MLM Opportunities - The Cell Phone Industry Has Now Entered the Fray

The cell phone industry has just entered the fray in the MLM and network marketing world. This is a huge development because it signals a wider recognition of mainstream corporations who are starting to realize the power and potential of this form of business. The latest addition to the fold is the joint venture of three companies--T-Mobile, Sprint and an enterprise called Liberty International.

For those of you who are either veteran network marketers or are just being introduced to the idea, this opportunity introduces a product that is both in high demand and that is easily recognizable by the public. This is important because many MLMers spend an over amount of time educating their new distributors on the value of their products and services rather than on bringing in new people into their organizations.

Sprint Phones

In addition to this, there is no investment required. All a person has to do to begin is to sign up for one of their unlimited calling plans. Once you refer three people to the same plan, then your cell phone bill will be free. This makes you eligible to start earning commissions, bonuses and residual income.

As most network marketers know, it takes hard work, persistence and determination to succeed in this form of business. The big difference here, however, is that once a person establishes a foundation of customers, sales and distributors, the income earned can begin to grow exponentially. So, check out this new offer from T-Mobile, Sprint, and Liberty International. It may just be the MLM that you've been looking for.

What Is Phone Phreaking?

Phreaking is a term used to describe the studying and experimenting with phone systems by a new subculture of people. Most of these people are "hackers" as they do this research in order to manipulate the system whether it be to gain access to files or to gain an advantage over their phone provider.

While the precise origins of "Phone Phreaking" are unknown, many point to the deployment of automatic long distance switches in phones by AT&T during the 1950's as a possible starting point for this revolution. Once the automatic switches were installed, users were able to manipulate the system using different tones such as 2600 Hertz. This tone would cause the switch to think the call was over, allowing a user to exploit the system for free long distance and international calling. This tone was discovered by a 7 year old blind boy named Joe Engressia. Engressia realized that by whistling a certain way he could turn off the dialed phone recording. Engressia's discovery uncovered two things; the fact that people could manipulate single frequency phone lines and that people with a stronger sense of hearing like those who are blind, can more easily manipulate these single frequency lines. Similar ploys by "Bill for New York" (who used a recording of a 2600 hertz tone) and John Draper, a close friend of Engressia's, who used a whistle given away in Cap'n Crunch boxes, earning him the moniker of "Cap'n Crunch" throughout the Phreaking community.

Sprint Phones

Bell Systems opened a new can of worms in 1964, when they released a manual describing the methods used to crack their multi-frequency systems. Meant to be only seen by their engineers, the manuals found their way to various college campuses across the United States, essentially releasing all the intricacies of cracking a multi-frequency Bell System (AT&T) calling system.

Following the release of this information, two Phone Phreaking "clans" sprung up, one on the east coast and one on the west. This second generation of Phone Phreakers explored and experimented as teams, allowing them to surpass their predecessors' solo approach and the forthcoming results. The East coast group, known as Group Bell, consisted of three men; "Evan Doorbell, "Ben Decibel", and Neil R. Bell. Evan, the leader of the group, recorded many of their results, distributing them via the internet, print, and word of mouth. Much like their colleagues on the east coast, the Mark Bernay Society, stationed in California and led by none other than Mark Bernay, experimented and published many results breaking down the barriers of Bell Systems devices and codes. Mark, along with his brother Chris and a man known as "Alan from Canada", continuously cracked codes throughout the 60's, 70's, and 80's, publishing all of their results on a website designed by Mark called "Phone Trips".

In their October 1971 issue, Esquire Magazine described early Phone Phreaking, highlighting in particular Engressia and Draper. This article gave Phreaking a global audience, attracting former Phreakers such as Steve Wosniak and Steve Jobs, future founders of Apple Computer. After the Esquire article, Phone Phreaking publications such as Youth International Party Line (1971) and Technology Assistance Program(1773) sprung up, combining with Bernay's blog to give international audiences and Phreakers places to explore and share their Phreaking ideas and opinions.

With the dawn of Modem internet and the personal computer, Phone Phreaking and Computer Hacking combined to create mayhem for phone companies. Up and coming companies, such as Sprint, at their founding, did not have the ability to connect callers directly over long distances. This inability forced them to use a system in which a user would call a local station, type in a six or seven digit, then be connected long distance. Using a computer hacking program, Phone Phreakers could quickly guess different codes to make long distance calls on another user's card. Using the knowledge that there were ten thousand Sprint users, Phreakers could guess a six digit code every one hundred tries, while getting a seven digit code within a thousand tries. Once guessed, a code would be spread throughout the Phone Phreaker community, basically making the code unusable by the legitimate owner. Sprint could do very little about the problem, as they would need the local phone histories for every calling area. This was basically impossible, and even if they did have access to these records, it would be expensive both monetarily and time wise. This problem ran rampant for many years before Sprint, along with other up and coming companies eliminated the need for a calling card, making long distant calls direct.

The end of Phone Phreaking came as multi-frequency phone lines were eliminated and with the birth of cell phones. The last multi-frequency phone line was eliminated in Washington in 2005. With the inception of cell phones came the ability for people to make long distance calls with a standard rate. So, with direct calling from one phone to another, Phone Phreakers basically lost all chances to use someone else's bill using hacking technology to make calls.

So, Phone Phreaking, beginning in the 1950's with Joe Engressia's stumbling upon the problem with 2600 hertz calling, has evolved over the years along with new technologies and companies. Along with this evolution has come new breeds of Phreakers, from Cap'n Crunch using a simple whistle, to Phiber Optik (real name Mark Abene) a forerunner in code hacking for long distance calling. These problems stemming from Phreaking have slowly been eliminated, yet as technology advances in the telecommunication world, you'd expect Phone Phreaking to evolve with it.

Tracing Cell Phone Numbers - CIA, FBI, Private Detectives, Or Online Tools?

In the past, before the age of cell phones and caller IDs you had no choice but to answer any and all calls that you got. Thanks to the caller ID, nowadays you can say if the call is from someone you know or not. Wrong numbers drives me crazy when I get calls from numbers that I don't recognize. I'm sure I'm not alone here. For one, they waste my time, secondly they waste my minutes and money.

Don't you wish there was a way to lookup who the caller is when you don't know the number? We actually can. In the past only private detectives could do this. They had to get the information through the CIA or FBI. Not only did they take up to 2 weeks to get you the information, they were also very expensive. Even today you can find private eyes charging as much as 0. But the era of private investigators is over. You can be your own special agent thanks to online tools.

Sprint Phones

But there's a Hitch

Cell phone numbers are not listed on telephone directories. Have you seen a Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint phone book? That's because they don't exist. Mobile numbers are not public domain information like land phone numbers. The only way to keep telemarketers and identity thieves away from our wireless numbers is to make them unlisted or unavailable for public access. That's the only way to protect mobile phone user privacy.

Does it mean that you can't trace cell numbers?

Not at all, you can for ~90% of the numbers. Certain third party companies have been given the authority to build their own mobile number databases. There are multiple companies doing this. However, they don't have all the numbers in the USA. For example company A might have 10 million numbers more than company B. This is why it is very important that you pick the correct service to trace cell phone numbers. Because collecting all these numbers and maintaining databases is a costly procedure, they're not willing to share this information for free. There are certain 'services' that charge as much as 0, but then there are others that only charge you a fraction of that and yet give you all the basic information such as the phone owner's full name, exact address and map location and even house hold member information.Technology is amazing, all withing a couple of minutes.
